FAQ
-
What HVAC services do you offer?
We offer a complete range of HVAC services, including:
Heating system repair and replacement
Air conditioning repair and installation
HVAC system installation and start-up
Indoor air quality solutions
ACCA Manual J load calculations
ACCA Manual S equipment selection
Preventive maintenance and system evaluations
All work is performed with a focus on engineering-based design, comfort, and efficiency.
-
Do you perform load calculations before installing new HVAC equipment?
Yes. Every new system we install is properly sized using an ACCA Manual J load calculation.
This ensures your HVAC system is not oversized or undersized, which improves comfort, reduces energy costs, and extends equipment life. Many contractors skip this step — we do not.
-
Why are load calculations important for HVAC systems?
Load calculations determine how much heating and cooling your home actually needs based on:
Square footage
Insulation levels
Window type and orientation
Air leakage
Occupancy
Without a proper load calculation, systems are often oversized, leading to:
Higher utility bills
Poor humidity control
Short cycling
Hot and cold spots
-
Isn’t bigger always better?
No — and this is one of the most common misconceptions in HVAC.
An oversized system:
Turns on and off too frequently
Struggles with humidity control
Causes uneven temperatures
Uses more energy
Wears out faster
Properly sized equipment, based on Manual J and Manual S calculations, delivers better comfort, lower utility bills, and longer equipment life. Bigger is not better — correct is better.
-
Do you service existing HVAC systems or only install new ones?
We do both. SEMO Heat & Air LLC provides HVAC service and repair for existing systems as well as complete system replacements.
If your system can be repaired safely and cost-effectively, we will tell you. If replacement is the better option, we will explain why.
-
What types of HVAC systems do you work on?
We service and install:
Heat pumps
Air Conditioners
Gas furnaces
Electric furnaces
Dual-fuel systems
We also evaluate existing systems for safety, efficiency, and performance issues.
-
Do you offer indoor air quality solutions?
Yes. We offer indoor air quality evaluations and solutions, including:
Air filtration improvements
Humidity control
System airflow corrections
Proper air quality starts with correct equipment sizing and duct performance, which we address during system evaluation.
-
Do you offer free estimates?
We provide detailed proposals based on your home and system needs.
For new installations, this includes load calculations and proper equipment selection, not just a simple equipment swap. -
How long does an HVAC installation typically take?
Most residential HVAC installations are completed in one day, depending on system type, duct conditions, and job complexity. We will outline the timeline clearly in your proposal.
-
Do you register equipment warranties?
Yes. After installation:
Manufacturer warranties are registered
Equipment manuals are provided
Homeowners are shown system components and basic maintenance requirements
-
Why should I choose SEMO Heat & Air instead of another contractor?
SEMO Heat & Air is different because we combine:
Engineering background
Proper load calculations
Correct equipment sizing
Transparent recommendations
We focus on long-term comfort and performance, not just replacing what’s already there.
